CABO

Ani and I took our first "real" vacation in over 6 years to Cabo San Lucas. We chose Cabo for 2 reasons:
1) We could get a direct flight from Denver
and
2) It was on a sunny beach!

We had an absolute blast, mostly just relaxing on the beach and by the pool. We went for a walk along the beach every night to take sunset pictures. We rented a kayak and paddled across the bay to Lovers Beach. We finally saw "The Arch" when we rented a jetski and flew around the bay. We knew we had to go back and get some shots of it, so we got into a boat taxi with camera in tow and got some great shots, great views and learned some great history.

We stayed very close to the Marina, so we were able to walk down a few times and go out to dinner, grab some drinks and do a little shopping for Livvy. It was an ideal time to go down there. The weather was beautiful, not too hot, and there was practically nobody there.

Snowy Lyons Christmas

Happy Holidays! We got a good amount of snow in Lyons 3 days before Christmas. We had 4 days off from FASTSIGNS and we went sledding everyday! It was a blast, Livvy really had a great time. Ani and I did some cross country skiing right out our door and I went on a few "mini" hikes through town and into the hills. It was so nice to just relax, eat good food, drink some port and just hang with the family.

Fall is coming!

I can't wait for Fall! It truly is my favorite season. The colors, the chill, bright blue skies, the smell, football and the perfect photo ops! I don't know how much I will be getting out to shoot this fall, but I know I will get some in.

We just had a great trip down to Durango, CO and went camping up outside of Silverton. This part of the state is one of my favorites. We found an awesome spot and had an easy time getting there in the new Subaru, man that car can cruise some roads that probably were not meant for a car to be traveling on.

We had just finished setting up camp and we were breaking out the Smashball when a rustle in the thickets alerted us to some visitors. Two large Bull Moose popped out and feasted in a pond about 50 yards or so from our site. I have never see Moose in the wild before but have always wanted to. It was super cool! Livvy loved to see them too, she kept pointing over and saying "MOOSE" "Hi Moose"! It was pretty surreal, as was our spot.

I can't wait to get back down there. The colors on the mountains from all the ore and the mining are spectacular. I can only imagine how it looks with Aspens 'ablazin as well.

Busy in Colorado

Wow, has it been busy! Nothing wrong with that except I haven't even had the time to think about a new post. I went camping a few weeks ago outside of Leadville up the road from Clear Creek Reservoir. I had fished there once before with Ani, Kevin and Susan. We all caught a ton of fish that day from the canoe.

I got the sunset shot on my way into finding a camp site. It was raining a little bit, but really starting to clear out. The color of these misty clouds was unreal. I rafted Browns Canyon the next day with Tim and some of his river buddies. I have to admit, I am a bit afraid of the water, especially fast flowing rivers, but I had a blast! In fact, Ani and I are bringing the whole FastSigns Boulder crew river rafting on Sunday up near Idaho Springs, CO on Clear Creek (a different Clear Creek). I am still a little nervous, but I know it will be fun!

From website to blog

I decided to switch bobokun.com to a blog! My hope is that I will actually update my blog with all my newest photography and happenings.

This HDR photo is of the Indian Peaks from the North side of Lefthand Reservoir. This is one of my favorite spots and it is so cool it is so close to my town of Lyons, CO. This shot was a surprise to me because I was almost ready to give up and pack it in due to the light being really bright and washed out. My wife convinced me to try a few more shots, so we hiked around a bit and the sun looked incredible behind the trees. This one is a great piece printed on canvas and it is absolutely brilliant on on aluminum, gatorfoam or PVC. The biggest I can do on Canvas for this one is 32"x56", and 28"x42" on all other substrates. Any custom size up to these sizes can be printed.

Please feel free to contact me anytime with pricing, substrate and sizing questions or to place an order with me.
